Chavo Guerrero joined in on the attack, but ultimately, El Patron fought through it and put Guerrero in an armbar.

Backstage Update On When Kurt Angle Signed His New Contract With TNA Wrestling - Details

Partial Source: Pwinsider

UPDATE: Earlier today, TNA announced that Kurt Angle had re-signed with the company (see below).

According to a source, Kurt Angle and TNA agreed to a new deal two weeks ago. It had been previously reported that Angle was remaining with the company, but there was no deal in place at that time as the two sides simply had a verbal agreement in place. During this time, Vince Russo stated on his podcast that Angle had signed a new deal with TNA, but at that point, negotiations had not been completed and the ink had not yet been put on paper.

ORIGINAL: TNA sent out the following today, announcing that Kurt Angle has official re-signed with the company…

Kurt Angle Re-signs With TNA Wrestling!

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 30, 2014) – TNA today announced Olympic Gold Medalist and TNA Hall-of-Fame member Kurt Angle has signed a new contract to remain an active TNA roster member. Kurt can be seen on IMPACT WRESTLING’s new home, Destination America, during a special LIVE event from New York City on Wednesday January 7 at 9/8c.

“Kurt Angle’s arrival nearly a decade ago put TNA on the map. Now Kurt leads a fresh, young IMPACT WRESTLING locker room into a whole new era on Destination America,” said TNA President Dixie Carter. “Once Kurt steps inside those ropes there is no greater talent in professional wrestling.”

“I’m extremely excited to remain with TNA Wrestling,” said Angle. “The driving force behind my signing is the honesty, great communication and positive changes being made by Dixie Carter and John Gaburick. Things are moving upward and forward at TNA, and 2015 will be a great one for all of us at IMPACT WRESTLING.”

For more information on Kurt Angle and other talent signings visit impactwrestling.com, and follow IMPACT WRESTLING on twitter @IMPACTWRESTLING and TNA President Dixie Carter @TNADixie.

IMPACT WRESTLING premieres in its permanent time slot on Fridays from 9-11 PM ET beginning January 16 on Destination America. And, IMPACT WRESTLING: UNLOCKED with Mike Tenay premieres in its permanent time slot on Saturdays from 10 AM-Noon ET beginning January 17, immediately followed by TNA GREATEST MATCHES from Noon-1 PM ET.

Pro Wrestling Predictions For 2015

The rock1 crop exact Birthdate: 05/02/1972 (age 42) Height: 6'5" Weight: 260 Ib Johnson was a college football player for the U...

As 2014 comes to a close, let's predict on what the 2015 holds in the WWE, TNA, Ring of Honor and other promotions.

The Rock will cost Brock Lesnar the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match against John Cena at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view only for Seth Rollins to cash in his MITB briefcase to defeat Cena for the title.

Even though he has a busy film career which includes the upcoming movies Furious 7 and San Andreas, The Rock will no doubt be one of the top attractions heading into WrestleMania 31 which includes the likelihood of The Rock versus Brock Lesnar match. Even though the 30-man Royal Rumble match usually closes out the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, the 2015 edition could very well see Cena versus Lesnar closing out the pay-per-view simply because I see The Rock costing Lesnar the match against Cena leading up to Rock-Lesnar at WrestleMania 31. But I also expect The Authority to attack Cena, allowing Seth Rollins to cash in his MITB briefcase to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Cesaro will headline the "WWE Future Endeavored" Class of 2015.

2014 was the year that saw many WWE Superstars including CM Punk, Alberto Del Rio, Josh Mathews, Brodus Clay, JTG, Drew McIntyre, and many others getting released and 2015 in my opinion is no exception. Look for Cesaro, Justin Gabriel, Fandango, Curtis Axel, David Otunga, Zack Ryder, Tamina Snuka, and several others to get released in the coming months.

Goldust will leave the WWE in 2015, without feuding with Cody Rhodes.

Speaking of 2015 WWE departures, another person that I could see leaving the WWE is Goldust, but I don't see him facing Cody Rhodes in a match. Vince McMahon is said to be very happy with the Stardust gimmick while he feels that Cody Rhodes got very outdated as a performer. Instead, expect a "passing the torch" situation for the Rhodes Brothers.

Adrian Neville will flop on the main roster while Sami Zayn, Finn Balor and Hideo Itami remain on the NXT roster.

NXT talent Adrian Neville has been rumored to debut on the main roster, but like Adam Rose, Bo Dallas, Emma, and Xavier Woods before him, expect Neville to be a major disappointment while I expect the likes of Zayn, Itami, and Balor to be stuck in NXT for the time being.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage will heading the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame class.

After years of animosity between Vince McMahon and Randy Savage, look for The Macho Man to finally headline the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame class.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated will cease publication.

Let's face it, wrestling magazines (along with many other magazines) have been victims of print decline and internet websites. As a result, I expect Pro Wrestling Illustrated to publish its last issue sometime in 2015.

TNA will have a banner year.

Earlier this year, things were looking rather dismal for TNA Wrestling regarding its uncertain future. Now that it has a new TV home (Destination America), look for TNA to serious give WWE a run for the money with fresh storylines, better matches, and more focus on in-ring action than promos.

Global Force Wrestling will be a success.

Even though it hasn't debuted yet, I expect Global Force Wrestling to seriously challenge the WWE, TNA, and Ring of Honor thanks in large part to Jeff Jarrett.

Ring of Honor will add a women's division.

Just like WCW to some extent, Ring of Honor wrestling hasn't had a women's wrestling division. Look for that to change though, as I expect several Shimmer Athletes joining the company to create the Women of Honor to compete with the WWE Divas and the TNA Knockouts.

Jeff Jarrett Reacts To TNA Wrestling Lasting This Long, His Greatest Accomplishment In Wrestling

The following are highlights of a new Main Event Madness Radio interview with Global Force Wrestling (GFW) founder Jeff Jarrett:

On his greatest in-ring accomplishment: "Well inside the ring, you know, it goes without saying, anybody that's ever laced up a pair of boots, anyone that's wanted to be a professional wrestler that became a professional wrestler, they want to be world champion. So, when I reached that goal, I was very, very happy. Every world title I've ever won was a proud moment, you know? The first time I won the [WWE] Intercontinental Title back in 1995, I really enjoyed that. When I look back on my career, you have different phases of your career, and I enjoyed my time and series of matches with Shawn Michaels, and just a couple years ago, my series of matches with Kurt Angle. Those are some of the highlights."

On if he thought TNA would last as long as it has when it started: "You know, I've been asked that question several different ways. When anybody starts a business, you envision it being around for a long time. Nobody starts a business and says, 'Hey I'm gonna be around for a month or two.' So, absolutely. I did everything in my power and [I'm] very pleased with my time in TNA."

Kurt Angle Reveals His Future In The Wrestling Business - Confirms He's Staying With TNA, More

Kurt Angle recently appeared on Vince Russo’s podcast, The Swerve, yesterday (Dec. 2). The pre- and post-interviews were archived on YouTube, and you can listen to them and check out some highlights below. The 90-minute bonus interview is available in the VIP section at Pyroandballyhoo.com.

In addition, Russo said that Kurt Angle direct messaged him on Twitter to allow him to announce that Angle plans on returning to TNA.

Also read: ?Kurt Angle Discusses His Retirement Plans, His Phone Call With Vince McMahon, TNA's Future

Angle’s response to a Russo story about Hogan not showing up until much later to reject Sting and Angle’s plans for a match they had been working all week: “I don’t have much to say about that day. I love Terry. I love Hulk. I think he was trying to help. Sting and I know where we want to go. If Sting and I are going to put out a five star match that everyone expected us to, I don’t think Hogan needed to say anything. I know the company put him in charge. The company put him in charge. I can’t blame Hogan for that. I think Hogan should have said ‘What do you want to do’. He didn’t, but I love Hogan. I don’t have anything bad to say about him.”

Angle on what he is looking for in a wrestling company at the moment: “Most importantly: the right interests. At this point in my career, I can’t really do a full-time schedule. I need to look at how they want to take care of me, what they want to do with me, what’s important to them should be important to me and everything I do has meaning. Most important is the invested interest. Secondly, making sure I keep my life straight and that I spend time with my family. Thirdly is basically financial situation. It’s not that I’m in dire need of money. Thank god I made a lot in this business. At the same time, the amount of money speaks volumes with what they want to do with you and how they want to utilize you. is the money important for a financial standpoint? No. Is it important on how important you are to the company? Yes. I want to make sure it’s a best suit for me.”

Angle’s thoughts on Dixie Carter: “I think Dixie makes decisions, but I think it takes her a while to be an expert in the business. She’s been in entertainment for a long time but not necessary wrestling. She may not know the business as well as the people she brings in. She has a big heart; perhaps too big. The way she has treated me has been nothing short of incredible. She has made some mistakes with some things she has done, with people she hired and the direction they wanted to go. It’s definitely been a learning experience for her. I don’t know, Vince. You made a lot of good points.”

Angle’s thoughts on CM Punk, McMahon, and Carter: “Dixie has the motherly love. With Vince [McMahobn], he treated me like I was kind of a son. Whether he cared about me or not, he took care of me. I was the first one he called every New Year’s Eve. He was always there for me. I never had a problem with him. I listened to the CM Punk interview. I don’t know who’s telling the truth or not. I don’t know if CM Punk went over the top or not. I haven’t had that type of relationship with Vince that Punk did. Dixie is not Vince. Vince knows the business like anyone else. I don’t think anyone can be like Vince. Of course Vince will treat you better if you’re making him money. I always had a great experience with both of them. Dixie has always treated me good. I think she has sometimes put people in charge that hasn’t treated me well. I don’t think it was her fault. She’s the boss. With McMahon, you have to be a work horse to work in the WWE. Vince didn’t put me in that situation. I put myself in the situation. I put the responsibility on me for not speaking up for three years…”

Angle on the rumors of Triple H preventing him from making a WWE comeback: “I thought about it. I’ve never had a problem with Triple H. When I was there, he treated me well. We did business the right way. I’ve seen and heard rumors about that. When I talked to WWE, Vince and I buried the hatchet from years ago and we don’t have a problem with each other. I haven’t heard anything about Triple H saying and doing anything that blocked me. So, even though I don’t know for sure, from my experiences talking to WWE, I don’t think it’s a problem. I think a lot of it...

TNA President Dixie Carter posted the following on Twitter, announcing that the future of TNA will be revealed today. One would hope that this is the long awaited announcement of their new TV deal…

Backstage News & Updates For TNA Wrestling Once They Debut On Their New Network, Matthews

UPDATE: Regarding TNA live events, there is said to be a feeling among many in the company that they simply can't support TNA financially like they need it to, so the schedule will likely remain light for the time being.

As far as TNA's deal with Destination America is concerned, there are plans for a big "reboot" for the promotion once they premiere on the new network in January. They are also planning on overhauling their official TNA website, a project that former WWE announcer Josh Mathews is said to be the lead on.

ORIGINAL: It is said that the negotiations between Spike TV and TNA ended around two or three weeks ago. The two sides were in talks for TNA to sign a "lesser deal" that would see TNA get paid a smaller rights fee.

It's also said that despite the fact that TNA failed to hit the two million viewer mark for iMPACT! Wrestling that was agreed upon during their original contract signed back in 2010, Spike TV still had interest in maintaining the relationship.

On NXT: “I like how they presented these guys where it’s now, ‘Hey, Prince Devitt is coming. Kevin Steen is coming in. Hey, Kenta is coming in. Kenta was this in Japan. Now he is going to be moving forward and creating his own legacy in WWE.’ For so long WWE pretended things in the past didn’t happen. I think it is important, and I think now they are at least acknowledging that they have a past and stuff outside of their universe.”

On independent promotions having power: “I think it gets better for independent wrestling because we are coming in as a society where it’s becoming niche oriented. With the internet, the power of the internet, the more it grows for consumers. The directness to a consumer, it’s the best it has ever been, and it’s going to get better.Gone are the days in the music industry of buying a giant album from the giant labels. It’s such a direct market now, where it goes right to the consumer. Because of that, it’s the power of the independents right now. It will be interesting to see in five years. Now we can go to the consumer, aka the wresting fan, through the internet, social media and podcasts, YouTube. We are able to find our own audience and people who like us.

On CM Punk‘s absence / lack of public comments: “When Punk wants to talk, he will talk. That’s not for me. I enjoy seeing him being happy right now. So that’s where I’ll leave it. I know he is very happy. Things are going well for him. When he wants to talk, I’m sure he will do it.”

The Much Needed Transformation Of TNA Wrestling.

***This article may contain spoilers from last night's Impact Wrestling episode. It will not include spoilers for upcoming episodes, and I am unaware of their outcomes, nor do I want to know their outcomes***

I have been watching TNA Wrestling since 2009, and in that time, I have seen a lot of changes. I have gone back and seen TNA before 2009, and I think most of us can agree, the golden era of TNA is generally considered to be between the years of 2002-2009. TNA was cool back then. Yes! I said it ... TNA was actually cool to watch at one point in time. It had a cult following, it had wrestling fans who wanted an alternative to the WWE. The fans were happy with TNA, of course, Vince Russo was around and would sometimes book a crazy match (or everyone would blame him for a crazy match even if it wasn't his doing), but as a whole, TNA was fun to watch. They had the right people in place, and these people were TNA originals, mixed in with some former WWE/WCW/ECW guys. TNA has always been about giving wrestlers a place to work, no matter where they worked before. It was intense, it was total nonstop action, it had adult themes, and promos were done quickly and to the point. And then the dreaded day came, January 4th, 2010 promised change in TNA Wrestling, and the change was felt immediately..

Also read: Why Bobby Lashley Is The Rightful World Heavyweight Champion.

When I originally saw this, I didn't know what to make of it. Hulk Hogan was clearly past it and was far too injured to wrestle again, so what was he going to do? I felt like Hogan was going to fit into TNA like a skunk at a dinner party. Hogan has always been a mainstream guy, and now he was coming to hype up the alternative product. It didn't sit well with me, but I was willing to give it a chance and see where it was going. I wondered whether Hogan was going to change himself to suit the product, I wondered whether Hogan was going to have any control, and I also wondered who would follow him.

Before Hogan came in, TNA was running a storyline involving many different stables, including the TNA Front Line, the Main Event Mafia, and the World Elite. The stables were fighting for dominance, and I was really enjoying it, especially with Eric Young being the (heel) leader of the World Elite. It was war, and I was enjoying it a whole lot more than the John Cena & Randy Orton (WWE) show. I actually stopped watching WWE around this time as their product had grown seriously predictable and stale, while TNA reminded of how wrestling was several years prior.

I decided to tune into both WWE and TNA on January 4th, 2010, and I was really surprised. Not only did the WWE counter with the Shawn Michaels/Bret Hart segment, but I also saw that Eric Bischoff had accompanied Hulk Hogan. I still remember that promo they made, it was really bad for the hardcore TNA fan. They both stormed in there and changed the product to suit them. while Dixie Carter just agreed to all the changes as she was clearly star struck that someone as big and famous as Hulk Hogan would sign a TNA contract. The only problem was, they gave Hogan and Bischoff too much power, and they immediately let it go to their heads without examining what made TNA .... TNA. The video below isn't of the greatest quality, but you should watch and hear the crowd reactions. "We want six sides" starts at 3:10.

Instead of coming into TNA and seeing what made the company what it was, Hogan and Bischoff was on a mission to make TNA the new WCW, or WWE-lite, as some like to say. They changed the ring, much to the dismay of fans, and former WWE/WCW/ECW wrestlers such as Ric Flair, RVD, The Nasty Boyz, Val Venis, Matt Hardy, Scott Hall and Sean Waltman, all decided to follow suit. TNA would enter into what I like to call ... the "year of hell", as Hulk Hogan, Bischoff and Flair formed the stables of Immortal and Fortune. AJ Styles was defeated rather quickly by Rob Van Dam for the title, and even up until 2014, AJ Styles never made his way back to the top (except briefly in late 2013/early 2014), he was demoted almost immediately.

The product became unwatchable as Immortal (who soon became the stable to keep the "anti-christ" Jeff Hardy at the top) continued to dominate every episode with run-ins, and ambushes on wrestlers who were not in the stable. They had Bubba the Love Sponge running around, thinking he...

Bray Wyatt Discusses Stereotypes In Pro Wrestling, His Current WWE Character And More

Chad Dukes of ChadDukesWrestling.com recently interviewed WWE Superstar Bray Wyatt, who was promoting WWE Battleground. Below are some highlights:

Wyatt on his last year on the main WWE roster: "This ride this last year has just been a roller coaster, man. The intensity is off the charts. I measure it a lot by the reception from the people and the fans. So NXT, it took people a while to understand, you know, what exactly you're trying to portray because everyone wants to immediately look at us and they go, "Deliverance" and all these foolish hillbilly… what's the word I'm looking for?"

Wyatt's response when Dukes says "stereotypes": "Stereotypes, exactly, but we're highly intelligent, you know, more like some kind of hillbilly assassins. When we started in NX, we go from that reaction to…I actually was there just last night, and when I walkout there, I just, I see the people ignite. I do the entrance, and I say "NXT, we're home" and they believe it and I believe it, how real it is, and that's sort of how it's been. It starts out, I'm in no mans land not knowing what's going to happen from day to day, how the people are going to receive me, until now, I see in their eyes they understand. They see me for what I want them to see me as, it's truly truly a wonderful feeling, man."

Also read: Bray Wyatt On Interacting With The Fans & Being On The Main Roster

Wyatt on his inspirations for his character: "When we looked at ourselves we never said we wanted to be the next this, we don't want to be the next that. We saw the Shield when they were coming up and we were really angry that the Shield was coming up, because as talented as those guys were, we were already a three-man group. We already existed. We were already battle tested and ready to roll and I think that's why our involvement with them was so special because it was a real affliction.

"As far as inspiration, I'm inspired by everything. I'll watch a homeless man walk down the street with a crazy little limp and the next thing I know I pick it up. And that's the thing though, I don't sit down with a pen and paper, and I don't say, "Hey I'll walk out and say this on Monday Night Raw." I feel it out there, you know man. I start out with a little point that I want to get across and wherever my brain takes me is wherever I go in those promos. It's not something made up, the ideals are not made up, and everything is real to me. Everything I say it's so passionate, it's just real, it's what I really think of the world, what I really think of society and heroes, and all those people that I have a lack of respect for, it's all real images that pop up in my head in sequential order. Boom-boom-boom-boom, and they just flow out of me as if it's not even me talking but something else."

Wyatt on his positive crowd reactions: "I feed off the energy. I don't care what noise that they're making as long as they're making noise. It makes it real; it makes it real to me. If they were sitting down and they were quiet and not making any noise then I'd be worried. But as long as they're loud and they're into what I'm doing it makes me more into what I'm doing."

The Rock Speaks On One More Match, Sting In WWE & Wrestling Roman Reigns

The Rock sat down with Chris Van Vliet from CBS-19 in Cleveland to promote his latest movie Hercules. He was asked about Sting being in WWE, Roman Reigns and of course the possibility of one more match. Check out the highlights down below:

Would He Ever Face Roman Reigns?

"I don't know if that match makes sense now because he's not their top heel right now, so you would look at that. Unless I went in as a heel and he was a babyface."

Also read: The Rock Discusses A Possible Match With Roman Reigns, If Sting Will Return To WWE And More

His Thoughts On Sting Being In WWE: "I do, yeah. And I know a guy or two so we'll just put it like that. I do think he's going to come back and I think it's going to be great."

If He Did Return To The WWE, Would It Be For One Match Or A Full-time Run?

"It's all of the above. The one match three or four years ago that I started talking about with Vince then turned into a three year run. So who knows? I would love to go back and figure it out. After last year's WrestleMania the idea was I was going to set up a great match with myself and Brock Lesnar but then I got hurt so that plan got cancelled. He is now in plans to do something with ba da da da which I'm not going to say (laughs) but it should be a cool match. So whenever I do go back, if it is a match it's just got to be right in terms of who is the marquee value player that really makes sense and at that time when I went back John Cena was the number one guy in the world so we have to see."
