Daniel Bryan Discusses Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman, A Sting vs. Triple H Match & More - Details Inside

Daniel Bryan recently spoke about his ideal situation for WrestleMania and more. Here are the highlights…

On Sting vs. Triple H: “I think he’d do very well. But it will be interesting because there’s a lot of pressure in WWE. And he’s older now. Let’s see how he handles that kind of pressure, whether it is a WrestleMania match or doing something at the Royal Rumble. It has been a long time since he’s performed in front of a crowd that big.”

On Paul Heyman: “Paul Heyman’s been an incredible performer for years and he’s been able to change and evolve with the way the business has evolved. To me, I feel like he’s very ahead of the curve. If you talk to Paul Heyman, he’s like a wrestling genius. He understands the fan base, he knows what people want. He’s an amazing performer.”

On Brock Lesnar: “Literally, my ideal scenario for Sunday would be I win the Royal Rumble, Brock Lesnar wins his WWE World Heavyweight championship match, and then we wrestle in the main event of WrestleMania. That’s what I hope happens. It’ll be interesting to see what actually does happen.”

Backstage News On The Major Script Changes At Last Night's WWE RAW Broadcast, Sting Update, More

Sting wwe raw wcw Birthdate: 03/20/1955 (age 59) Height: 6'2" Weight: 250 Ib Sting is best known for his tenure in World Cha...

Partial Source: The Wrestling Observer

UPDATE x 5: There were many last-minute decisions made to the script for RAW last night. At one point on the RAW pre-show, it was revealed that John Cena would name the new RAW General Manager during the broadcast. However, WWE changed their minds at the last minute and announced the Board of Directors would make the announcement.

At the end of the episode, the Anonymous RAW General Manager made his (or her) return. The reason for this is because they are still debating  on who they want to play the full-time role and it hadn't been decided as of yesterday.

Also, the original plans called for Stung to appear either before or after the Divas Elimination tag-team match. Obviously, those plans changed and he was involved in the main event instead.

UPDATE x 4: Sting recently signed a performers contract with WWE. While the length of the agreement and specific details are not yet known, the deal is likely structured similar to Brock Lesnar's, where he is getting paid a lot and is only required to make limited appearances.

While he almost certainly won't be working live events, the feeling is that he will be wrestling more than just "one more match."

As noted earlier, WWE reached out to Sting last Thursday to set up his Survivor Series appearance.

UPDATE x 3: Following Sting's WWE debut at Sunday's Survivor Series pay-per-view, where he gave Triple H a Scorpion Death Drop and cost Team Authority their jobs, there's already some buzz behind the scenes that the two legends will square off at WrestleMania 31.

Just a few weeks ago, The Rock and Triple H were teasing a WrestleMania match at the SmackDown 15th Anniversary special. With The Rock's very busy schedule shooting movies, it seems unlikely that he'll be getting back in the ring next March. WWE kicking off a feud between Sting & Triple H seems to support the notion that The Rock won't be available during WrestleMania season.

While The Undertaker's in-ring future is still unknown, Sting working with Triple H could be a sign that Taker has yet to commit to wrestling at WrestleMania 31.

UPDATE x 2: In an update from our earlier report (see below), the decision to bring in Sting wasn’t made until Thursday. As previously reported, WWE wanted to deliver on a surprise and also wanted to push the “anything can happen” on the WWE Network idea.

Sting is not expected to be at RAW or SmackDown this week. The plan was for him to make the pay-per-view appearance and then head back home to California. He may have pre-taped a segment for tonight, but nothing is confirmed.

In regards to who he may wrestle, the obvious pick seems to be Triple H due to their interaction last night. The plan as of Friday was that Sting will wrestle The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31. Of course, he could also wrestle Triple H at the Royal Rumble as a sort of introduction to fans not familiar with him.

UPDATE: WWE’s plan for Survivor Series last night was to push the WWE Network and show that anything can happen in WWE and anyone can show up on the Network. This is why Sting finally appeared on screen and why WWE announced both Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt at TLC and the Austin/Vince interview next week.

It’s believed that Sting also showed up to help promote WWE 2K15, which was released not long before the PPV happened. Finally, it’s possible that WWE added Sting’s name into the script earlier in the show (it was previously reported as happening right before or right after the Divas elimination match) in order to keep his main event appearance a secret.

ORIGINAL: As many of you know by now, Sting officially made his debut at the WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view on Sunday night.

According to sources, WWE flew Sting into Kansas, MO from Dallas, TX on Sunday morning as they wanted to hide him from fans who were waiting at the airport to meet WWE Superstars. The company then had a limo waiting for him in Kansas City, MO and drove him to St. Louis for the pay-per-view. He was kept hidden backstage during the afternoon and evening hours.

Additionally, Sting wasn't notified that he'd be appearing at Survivor Series until late last week. WWE officials called him on Wednesday or Thursday and told him he was needed for the pay-per-view. He was promoting WWE 2K15 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of last week and was unaware at that point that he'd be making his debut at Survivor Series.

The original plans called for Stung to appear either before or after the Divas Elimination tag-team match. Obviously, those plans changed and he was involved in the main event instead.

As of last word, Sting was not expected to appear at...

Mark 23 November 2014 in your calendars as the day WWE made history once again and completed a circle that began with the purchase of WCW. During the Survivor Series Pay-Per-View, the iconic Sting made his debut in a WWE ring and solidified himself legendary status as one of the greatest wrestlers to have ever lived. For those readers that don't understand why his debut is so significant, let us briefly review the career of this enigmatic warrior.

Some 30 years ago, Steve Borden debuted in a Tennessee based company called the Continental Wrestling Association as "Flash". Foreshadowing what would be singles runs as two of the greatest painted characters to appear on TV, Sting teamed with Jim Hellwig, known then as "Justice" but later of course, as the Ultimate Warrior. The team soon left CWA and moved to the Universal Wrestling Federation. It was there that Sting and Warrior's tag-team days ended, mirroring the breakdown in their personal relationship which only appeared to be remedied around the time of Hellwig's death.

Sting would go on to join with "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert and later Rick Steiner to become a three-time UWF tag champion. When the UWF was bought by the National Wrestling Alliance (a forerunner of WCW), Sting was pegged as a future star and faced Ric Flair as early as 1988 for the NWA Heavyweight Championship. Continually booked for headline matches of one sort or another, his stock continued to rise and he eventually won the NWA Television title in early 1989.

Flair and Borden continued to work together and whilst the "classic" line-up of the Four Horsemen were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012, fans might be interested to know that Sting was a member of the group, albeit briefly during its "reformation" period. Whilst an injury at that time forced Sting from the ring, so well-regarded was Borden that he still featured regularly on TV programming throughout his recovery time (even being saved from a beating by Robocop in a promotional fusion!). He would return in 1990 and go on to win the NWA World Heavyweight title.

When WCW rose from the ashes of the NWA, Sting went with it and soon after defeated Steve (later Stone Cold Steve) Austin for the WCW US Championship. His status as the WCW 'franchise' quickly soon after secured him the first of six Heavyweight title wins.

Throughout the 1990's Sting continued to dominate in WCW but it wasn't until 1996 that he began to develop the darker, more menacing character that has defined the latter part of his career. Moving away from the brightly coloured tights and blond crew-cut that had shaped his iconic TV character, he grew his hair out and tended to opt for Black ring-attire. It was during that intermittent period that Sting was ringside for one of the greatest shocks in wrestling history when Hulk Hogan turned villain and set the foundations for the New World Order (nWo) faction.

Refusing to take sides in the WCW/nWo war, Sting became a free agent, coining the famous phrase: "The only thing for sure about Sting is nothing's for sure". For nearly a year, he did not speak on the microphone and appeared mysteriously in the arena rafters. Eventually in 1997, he literally dropped back into action (from the roof), taking out the nWo bad guys and re-establishing himself as a firm fan favourite. He later reinforced that status in typically enigmatic style by teasing a run as a bad guy only to join the "Wolfpac" good guys and again reinventing himself with a new red and black appearance.  As a wolfpac alumnus he continued to win championship gold and latterly, would partake in a series of matches with Bret Hart to determine the master of the Sharpshooter/Scorpion Deathlock finisher.

In 1999 Sting returned to his Black and White gear and world champion status, if only briefly. He took his 5th championship from Diamond Dallas Page on WCW's Nitro programme only to be beaten by Page some 90 minutes later in what was the shortest recorded reign in WCW history. By the time WCW was in its final run, Sting had undertaken a short stint as it's on-screen president and 'turned heel' only to be continually embraced as a fan favourite. A storyline injury had him off TV from November 2000 but he ended his WCW journey as he had begun in, in emphatic style by beating his long-time rival Ric Flair on the final TV broadcast. When WWE bought out WCW, he turned down a contract with the former having been concerned about the way his team mates had been booked.  Instead, he headed to Europe and toured with the short-lived World Wrestling All-Stars.

Whilst it may be unlikely to form part of WWE's 'History of Sting', Borden became 'The Franchise'...

Jim Ross Writes A Blog On Sting At Survivor Series PPV Rumors, Brock Lesnar's UFC Return & More

Ross jim3e Birthdate: 01/03/1952 (age 62) Height: 5'10" Weight: 250 Ib Jim Ross is an American professional wrestling ...

The following are highlights of the latest blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On Sting possibly appearing at Survivor Series: "My Twitter timeline lit up Friday night with the conveniently, timed info/rumor that Sting would make a 'surprise' appearance at Sunday's WWE Survivor Series. I have no idea it that's true or not and I'd have preferred if the info, true or not, would not have leaked out. I'm not a major fan of the "Jardine's" aka spoilers. I'm a Sting fan from back in the day and believe that if his first and perhaps only match in WWE is at WrestleMania 31. The man has earned a WrestleMania Moment without question."

Also read: ?**SPOILER** Update - 3 Names Possible For The WWE Survivor Series Psy-Per-View

On his prediction for the Survivor Series main event outcome: "If forced to make a prediction, I'd go with Team Cena winning the Survivor Series main event Sunday in St. Louis which provides WWE the opportunity to truly set the reset button and create some new scenarios that are due with the build to WM31 beginning to commence. If so, Im curious to see how HHH and Steph are repositioned as WWE needs star power and they provide that more than many of the talents."

On rumors of a Brock Lesnar return to UFC: "My thoughts on the possibility of Brock Lesnar returning to the UFC have seemingly resonated among some. Lesnar is a true jock....not an entertainer....and in the UFC he can be involved in a main steam sport of which he covets while still making big money for working few times a year. I think the amazingly gifted athlete longs for the competition and to see what's left in the tank after his battles with diverticulitis. Perhaps with the additional TV dates that Lesnar has agreed to is for him to lose the WWE Title on Monday Night RAW where the most fans would see it. Who knows?"

The Rock Discusses A Possible Match With Roman Reigns, If Sting Will Return To WWE And More

CBS 19's Chris Van Vliet in Cleveland, Ohio recently interviewed The Rock. Below are some highlights and a video of the interview:

The Rock on his WrestleMania 30 appearance: "By me not posting anything (laughs). I came in literally hours before and it's one of those things where it was a very last minute decision. It was an amazing night and there's no greater feeling as a performer than that connection with an audience."

Also read: The Rock Speaks On One More Match, Sting In WWE & Wrestling Roman Reigns

The Rock's thoughts on if he think Sting will come back: "I do, yeah. And I know a guy or two so we'll just put it like that. I do think he's going to come back and I think it's going to be great."

Does The Rock thinks a match with Roman Reigns makes sense: "I don't know if that match makes sense now because he is not their top heel right now, so you would look at that. Unless I went in as a heel and he was a babyface."

The Rock Speaks On One More Match, Sting In WWE & Wrestling Roman Reigns

The Rock sat down with Chris Van Vliet from CBS-19 in Cleveland to promote his latest movie Hercules. He was asked about Sting being in WWE, Roman Reigns and of course the possibility of one more match. Check out the highlights down below:

Would He Ever Face Roman Reigns?

"I don't know if that match makes sense now because he's not their top heel right now, so you would look at that. Unless I went in as a heel and he was a babyface."

His Thoughts On Sting Being In WWE: "I do, yeah. And I know a guy or two so we'll just put it like that. I do think he's going to come back and I think it's going to be great."

If He Did Return To The WWE, Would It Be For One Match Or A Full-time Run?

"It's all of the above. The one match three or four years ago that I started talking about with Vince then turned into a three year run. So who knows? I would love to go back and figure it out. After last year's WrestleMania the idea was I was going to set up a great match with myself and Brock Lesnar but then I got hurt so that plan got cancelled. He is now in plans to do something with ba da da da which I'm not going to say (laughs) but it should be a cool match. So whenever I do go back, if it is a match it's just got to be right in terms of who is the marquee value player that really makes sense and at that time when I went back John Cena was the number one guy in the world so we have to see."

The Latest On Sting To WWE + WWE In 5 (Video), More

Partial Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

-- Just to recap something we reported last week in case you missed it and also because we always get a lot of questions regarding Sting and WWE, the working idea right now in WWE as it pertains to Sting is that he will do one match and then retire from in-ring competition. As of right now, everyone seems to be under the impression that the one match will be against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31 in Santa Clara. Sting has reportedly been studying tapes of Undertaker matches, leading many to believe that he is under a similar belief.

Whether the idea for this match is made clear at WrestleMania 30, RAW the next night or at some point closer to the actual show is unknown. As of right now, the only thing that seems to be for sure is that Sting will only be doing one last match, likely against Undertaker.

As far as his contractual status with WWE, nobody has confirmed that he has actually signed at this point, although the feeling seems to be that it's an inevitability.

Jim Ross: Sting Is A WWE Hall Of Fame Shoo-In...

Jim Ross has updated the Q&A section of his website. The highlights are below:

On his debut "Ross Report" podcast and future guests: "Austin will be back for Ross Report #2 next week followed by Mauro Ranallo, Trish Stratus, and Mick Foley. I've got some great guests coming on to shoot the breeze. Thanks for listening."

On why Ron Simmons was more successful as part of a tag-team in WWE: "Hmmm...he did well in both roles especially being pivotal launching Rock from the Nation. The APA thing with JBL was good too and garnered a great deal of TV time. They were two different presentations that were both executed well."

On if Sting never working for WWE will prevent him from going into the WWE Hall Of Fame: "Absolutely not. I would bet a case of JR's BBQ Sauce that Sting is in the WWE HOF within 2-3 years."

On if he feels Damien Sandow is being underutilized in WWE: "I'd agree that Sandow could be more of a force. That's partly WWE's fault and partly the talents. To be great it takes a partnership between company and talent."
