Last Friday Night's WWE SmackDown Rating Is In, Survivor Series Dominates Google, & More News

-- According to Google statistics, WWE did over 200,000 Google searches for their Survivor Series pay-per-view on Sunday. That came in at #3 behind Iggy Azalea and Odell Beckham Jr. as they were featured at the MTV Movie Awards and the New York Giants NFL game.

-- WWE's reasoning for the Survivor Series post-show not airing is simply because the pay-per-view ran long as they already had content scheduled to air and didn't want to mess up their schedule.

-- WWE added a new feature to the WWE Network that allows subscribers to access content from WWE's official YouTube channel. You can check out a list of content that is available at WWE.com.

-- UPDATE: The Friday, November 21st WWE Survivor Series "go-home" edition of SmackDown scored a final 2.11 (2.1) cable rating, which was up from the 1.93 rating that the show drew the previous week. Friday's SmackDown averaged 2.878 million viewers, which was also up from the average of 2.715 million viewers who tuned in the previous week.

-- ORIGINAL: It was good news for the WWE SmackDown rating today. Last Friday’s episode drew 2.88 million viewers and a 0.9 rating in the 18 – 49 demographic. Those numbers are up 6% and a tenth from last week’s 2.72 million and 0.8 demo rating. The episode had the highest SmackDown viewership since the July 18th episode drew 2.89 million and the highest demo rating since the June 27th episode also drew a 0.9.

The household rating will be available later

Backstage News On The Major Script Changes At Last Night's WWE RAW Broadcast, Sting Update, More

Sting wwe raw wcw Birthdate: 03/20/1955 (age 59) Height: 6'2" Weight: 250 Ib Sting is best known for his tenure in World Cha...

Partial Source: The Wrestling Observer

UPDATE x 5: There were many last-minute decisions made to the script for RAW last night. At one point on the RAW pre-show, it was revealed that John Cena would name the new RAW General Manager during the broadcast. However, WWE changed their minds at the last minute and announced the Board of Directors would make the announcement.

At the end of the episode, the Anonymous RAW General Manager made his (or her) return. The reason for this is because they are still debating  on who they want to play the full-time role and it hadn't been decided as of yesterday.

Also, the original plans called for Stung to appear either before or after the Divas Elimination tag-team match. Obviously, those plans changed and he was involved in the main event instead.

UPDATE x 4: Sting recently signed a performers contract with WWE. While the length of the agreement and specific details are not yet known, the deal is likely structured similar to Brock Lesnar's, where he is getting paid a lot and is only required to make limited appearances.

While he almost certainly won't be working live events, the feeling is that he will be wrestling more than just "one more match."

As noted earlier, WWE reached out to Sting last Thursday to set up his Survivor Series appearance.

UPDATE x 3: Following Sting's WWE debut at Sunday's Survivor Series pay-per-view, where he gave Triple H a Scorpion Death Drop and cost Team Authority their jobs, there's already some buzz behind the scenes that the two legends will square off at WrestleMania 31.

Just a few weeks ago, The Rock and Triple H were teasing a WrestleMania match at the SmackDown 15th Anniversary special. With The Rock's very busy schedule shooting movies, it seems unlikely that he'll be getting back in the ring next March. WWE kicking off a feud between Sting & Triple H seems to support the notion that The Rock won't be available during WrestleMania season.

While The Undertaker's in-ring future is still unknown, Sting working with Triple H could be a sign that Taker has yet to commit to wrestling at WrestleMania 31.

UPDATE x 2: In an update from our earlier report (see below), the decision to bring in Sting wasn’t made until Thursday. As previously reported, WWE wanted to deliver on a surprise and also wanted to push the “anything can happen” on the WWE Network idea.

Sting is not expected to be at RAW or SmackDown this week. The plan was for him to make the pay-per-view appearance and then head back home to California. He may have pre-taped a segment for tonight, but nothing is confirmed.

In regards to who he may wrestle, the obvious pick seems to be Triple H due to their interaction last night. The plan as of Friday was that Sting will wrestle The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31. Of course, he could also wrestle Triple H at the Royal Rumble as a sort of introduction to fans not familiar with him.

UPDATE: WWE’s plan for Survivor Series last night was to push the WWE Network and show that anything can happen in WWE and anyone can show up on the Network. This is why Sting finally appeared on screen and why WWE announced both Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt at TLC and the Austin/Vince interview next week.

It’s believed that Sting also showed up to help promote WWE 2K15, which was released not long before the PPV happened. Finally, it’s possible that WWE added Sting’s name into the script earlier in the show (it was previously reported as happening right before or right after the Divas elimination match) in order to keep his main event appearance a secret.

ORIGINAL: As many of you know by now, Sting officially made his debut at the WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view on Sunday night.

According to sources, WWE flew Sting into Kansas, MO from Dallas, TX on Sunday morning as they wanted to hide him from fans who were waiting at the airport to meet WWE Superstars. The company then had a limo waiting for him in Kansas City, MO and drove him to St. Louis for the pay-per-view. He was kept hidden backstage during the afternoon and evening hours.

Additionally, Sting wasn't notified that he'd be appearing at Survivor Series until late last week. WWE officials called him on Wednesday or Thursday and told him he was needed for the pay-per-view. He was promoting WWE 2K15 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of last week and was unaware at that point that he'd be making his debut at Survivor Series.

The original plans called for Stung to appear either before or after the Divas Elimination tag-team match. Obviously, those plans changed and he was involved in the main event instead.

As of last word, Sting was not expected to appear at...

A Live Fan Report From Last Night's WWE Monday Night RAW Broadcast Inside Here

Credit: Kyle Garner & prowrestling.net

It was a great show live. I’ve heard some say that the crowd was dead but from my perspective from where I was I would have to disagree. When Daniel Bryan came out the roof almost came off. He was definitely well received and welcomed back very loudly from my hometown crowd.

There was a guy who got ejected and that is why the crowd was chanting let him stay. The guy took the cotton candy from the vendor and started throwing it to the crowd.

Fun fact: I saw Ryback on the concourse of the Fieldhouse before the show started. Man, the guy is a beast in person.

Indy is more of a pro John Cena crowd and from my vantage point there were a ton more “let’s go Cena” chants.

After the show went off air, Cena, Dolph Ziggler, and Daniel Bryan were in the ring and played to the crowd. There were a ton of “We want Sting” chants so Cena gave Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury a couple of “Sting” chops and Ziggler gave the Stinger splash to Mercury. Cena wanted Bryan to get in on the action but Mike Chioda the ref told them he wasn’t medically cleared. Cena then asked the doctor and he concurred. So Cena brought Michael Cole in the ring and he ate a Ziggler superkick to end the night.

Overall, a fun night that was exciting for me to get to see Daniel Bryan return in person. I just wish Sting was there but I had a blast.

The show did hours of 3.90 million, 3.78 million and 3.64 million viewers. The household rating will be available later.
