Backstage News On The Major Script Changes At Last Night's WWE RAW Broadcast, Sting Update, More

Sting wwe raw wcw Birthdate: 03/20/1955 (age 59) Height: 6'2" Weight: 250 Ib Sting is best known for his tenure in World Cha...

UPDATE x 5: There were many last-minute decisions made to the script for RAW last night. At one point on the RAW pre-show, it was revealed that John Cena would name the new RAW General Manager during the broadcast. However, WWE changed their minds at the last minute and announced the Board of Directors would make the announcement.

At the end of the episode, the Anonymous RAW General Manager made his (or her) return. The reason for this is because they are still debating  on who they want to play the full-time role and it hadn't been decided as of yesterday.

Also, the original plans called for Stung to appear either before or after the Divas Elimination tag-team match. Obviously, those plans changed and he was involved in the main event instead.

UPDATE x 4: Sting recently signed a performers contract with WWE. While the length of the agreement and specific details are not yet known, the deal is likely structured similar to Brock Lesnar's, where he is getting paid a lot and is only required to make limited appearances.

While he almost certainly won't be working live events, the feeling is that he will be wrestling more than just "one more match."

As noted earlier, WWE reached out to Sting last Thursday to set up his Survivor Series appearance.

UPDATE x 3: Following Sting's WWE debut at Sunday's Survivor Series pay-per-view, where he gave Triple H a Scorpion Death Drop and cost Team Authority their jobs, there's already some buzz behind the scenes that the two legends will square off at WrestleMania 31.

Just a few weeks ago, The Rock and Triple H were teasing a WrestleMania match at the SmackDown 15th Anniversary special. With The Rock's very busy schedule shooting movies, it seems unlikely that he'll be getting back in the ring next March. WWE kicking off a feud between Sting & Triple H seems to support the notion that The Rock won't be available during WrestleMania season.

While The Undertaker's in-ring future is still unknown, Sting working with Triple H could be a sign that Taker has yet to commit to wrestling at WrestleMania 31.

UPDATE x 2: In an update from our earlier report (see below), the decision to bring in Sting wasn’t made until Thursday. As previously reported, WWE wanted to deliver on a surprise and also wanted to push the “anything can happen” on the WWE Network idea.

Sting is not expected to be at RAW or SmackDown this week. The plan was for him to make the pay-per-view appearance and then head back home to California. He may have pre-taped a segment for tonight, but nothing is confirmed.

In regards to who he may wrestle, the obvious pick seems to be Triple H due to their interaction last night. The plan as of Friday was that Sting will wrestle The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31. Of course, he could also wrestle Triple H at the Royal Rumble as a sort of introduction to fans not familiar with him.

UPDATE: WWE’s plan for Survivor Series last night was to push the WWE Network and show that anything can happen in WWE and anyone can show up on the Network. This is why Sting finally appeared on screen and why WWE announced both Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt at TLC and the Austin/Vince interview next week.

It’s believed that Sting also showed up to help promote WWE 2K15, which was released not long before the PPV happened. Finally, it’s possible that WWE added Sting’s name into the script earlier in the show (it was previously reported as happening right before or right after the Divas elimination match) in order to keep his main event appearance a secret.

ORIGINAL: As many of you know by now, Sting officially made his debut at the WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view on Sunday night.

According to sources, WWE flew Sting into Kansas, MO from Dallas, TX on Sunday morning as they wanted to hide him from fans who were waiting at the airport to meet WWE Superstars. The company then had a limo waiting for him in Kansas City, MO and drove him to St. Louis for the pay-per-view. He was kept hidden backstage during the afternoon and evening hours.

Additionally, Sting wasn't notified that he'd be appearing at Survivor Series until late last week. WWE officials called him on Wednesday or Thursday and told him he was needed for the pay-per-view. He was promoting WWE 2K15 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of last week and was unaware at that point that he'd be making his debut at Survivor Series.

The original plans called for Stung to appear either before or after the Divas Elimination tag-team match. Obviously, those plans changed and he was involved in the main event instead.

As of last word, Sting was not expected to appear at...

One of the major changes in terms of television presentation is the way the company plans to handle their announce team.

It's believed that the longtime commentary team of Mike Tenay and Taz will cease to exist when TNA launches of Destination America, as one source claims the "new and improved" TNA will be going with a two-man announcing team that will consist of Taz and former WWE announcer Josh Mathews.

As far as Mike Tenay is concerned, it is believed that he will still remain in an on-air role in some capacity.

As of about a month ago,  the word making the rounds regarding Total Divas was that Vince McMahon did not want anyone on the cast of that reality show to hold the WWE Divas Championship. People who know Vince, however, claim that this is one of those Vince "rules" that could change at any minute. As you know by now, Nikki Bella won the WWE Divas Title at the Survivor Series pay-per-view so it was another case of Vince changing his mind from week to week.

Speaking of Total Divas, it is said that there is a lot of booking frustrations regarding the reality show recently. McMahon reportedly goes through "phases" where he wants the storylines on Total Divas to synch up with the storylines on RAW, however the reality show is taped so far in advance that it has become problematic in that there are communication issues as to what content airs when and people have trouble all being on the same page.

Major Changes Made To The TNA Bound For Glory PPV - Lots Of Backstage News Inside Here

Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

One of the original plans for TNA Bound for Glory was to have Team 3D vs. The Wolves at the pay-per-view for the tag titles. The Wolves were taken off the event and replaced by Tommy Dreamer and Abyss.

Abyss was originally going to face Bram, but bookers decided to make the change since Team 3D was in the country for the Hall of Fame ceremony. Bram was also pulled from the show.

Samoa Joe vs. Low Ki was the original X-Division title match. Kaz Hayashi from Wrestle-1 was added to the match because Joe is working through an injury, and Hayashi would be able to compensate for any issues in the match if need be.

The original plan was for MVP vs. Ryota Hama, which was changed to MVP vs. Kazma Sakamoto. Hama will now face Ethan Carter III. This was done to add more TNA vs. Wrestle-1 matches for the event.

Some Wrestle-1 talents were not booked for the event because Wrestle-1 did not want to alienate American PPV buyers by making it look like a total Wrestle-1 event.

Backstage News On Very Late RAW Script Changes

Source: The Wrestling Observer

As previously reported, there were a number of late changes made to the script for this past Monday's edition of WWE RAW. Originally, one of the main events was going to be Daniel Bryan vs. Batista, and as late as Sunday night, that was still the plan.

There was said to be a number of different ideas for angles that the company wanted to do with The Wyatt Family and The Shield on RAW, but ultimately they went with the version we saw on Monday night.

Additionally, one of the original ideas was to go with a Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns singles match for the main event of the show, however they decided instead to go with a six-man tag-team match between both factions.

There was also a plan to have Evolution as guest timekeepers, but as noted, they felt that the finish, with Evolution interfering and attacking The Shield, would be too obvious if Evolution was sitting at ringside during the match.

Report: Major WWE NXT Changes Planned - Details

Source: The Wrestling Observer

There have been discussions in WWE on having NXT tape their show bi-weekly instead of monthly due to the show's growing popularity on the WWE Network.

WWE officials are said to be very happy with how NXT has been as of late, but the change in the taping schedule would allow them to give the show more fresh content regularly. It would also make it easier for the WWE to insert segments such as JBL and Paige's backstage interaction.
