UPDATE x 4: Okay, so obviously the big news yesterday was CM Punk’s shoot interview on Colt Cabana’s podcast. If you somehow missed it, Punk explained why he isn’t in WWE anymore and said he was fired on his wedding day, that he worked through some very serious health issues and that he had major creative problems with the company, among other things.

The story is all over the place by now (even hitting TMZ) and it’s been a hot topic of conversation on Twitter. One such discussion drew Brian “Road Dogg” James into it, with the DX member and current WWE employee defending the company. You can see the tweets below in their entirety; Road Dogg responds to a fan who went off on HHH and Vince McMahon by saying “You only hear one side of the story!” It continued on from there, with Road Dogg engaging multiple fans and explaining that he “dogged WWE” when he was released and he thinks Punk is doing the same.

To The Road Dogg’s credit, he doesn’t insult any of the fans and even stays respectful to Punk (as respectful as you can be when suggesting someone is making up stories). You can read the whole thing below:

@CMPunkXIII you only hear one side of the story!

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@CMPunkXIII I understand that but are you sure you have all of the facts? There are always 2 sides to every story.

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@CMPunkXIII just to be clear, I don't know the truth either! I just know how these stories get told around our industry.

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@TheBarrageEra it's crazy but do you always get treated perfectly at work? It's a team and we need team players, everyone can't win!

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@TheBarrageEra how was he "mistreated"?

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@TheBarrageEra I get it, but you just asked me if anyone else was being "mistreated" so I was interested as to what he meant by that.

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@DeanyAmbroseWWE a business relationship is between 2 or more people, you've now heard 1 side of the story. You'll never hear the other

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@DeanyAmbroseWWE that's his story. I can tell you some too if you'd like!

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@wholeeoh0_0 @WWE can't even believe you just asked that! We have a trainer and a dr. Talent goes to doc of their choice! Dang.

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@wholeeoh0_0 @WWE don't be sorry, just try to be realistic. We are an entertainment company. Good guys and bad guys, it's all perspective!

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@TheBarrageEra so if VKM or HHH did a podcast would you believe every word of those too?

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@TheBarrageEra as far as release papers on his wedding day, wasn't his wedding a secret? How did they know it was his wedding day?

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@TheBarrageEra when I quit and then got release papers, I dogged the company too. It's what you do when you aren't honest with yourself.

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@TheBarrageEra well you never will. The way everyone is reacting, I don't believe it's in the WWE's best interest to give one.

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@TheBarrageEra if he has no hard feelings why all the negative talk. He was "The Man" and that guy runs hard all year long. I'm done!

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@TheBarrageEra I'm not sure that's true. Like I said, I'm done. It's he said she said stuff and it's history. #HappyThanksgiving

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@FedMark1186 @CMPunk I did exactly what Punk did. I parted ways from the company and I bashed them . Call me what you will mate.

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@FedMark1186 and if you call being friends with someone being "up their a**" then I guess you're right. Not bashin Punk ,just counter points

— Brian G. James (@WWERoadDogg) November 27, 2014

@FedMark1186 I understand your complaint and you're definitely entitled to it. I don't want to bash...

Colt Cabana Discusses CM Punk's Absence From Wrestling, WWE NXT, Indy Promotions & More

On NXT: “I like how they presented these guys where it’s now, ‘Hey, Prince Devitt is coming. Kevin Steen is coming in. Hey, Kenta is coming in. Kenta was this in Japan. Now he is going to be moving forward and creating his own legacy in WWE.’ For so long WWE pretended things in the past didn’t happen. I think it is important, and I think now they are at least acknowledging that they have a past and stuff outside of their universe.”

On independent promotions having power: “I think it gets better for independent wrestling because we are coming in as a society where it’s becoming niche oriented. With the internet, the power of the internet, the more it grows for consumers. The directness to a consumer, it’s the best it has ever been, and it’s going to get better.Gone are the days in the music industry of buying a giant album from the giant labels. It’s such a direct market now, where it goes right to the consumer. Because of that, it’s the power of the independents right now. It will be interesting to see in five years. Now we can go to the consumer, aka the wresting fan, through the internet, social media and podcasts, YouTube. We are able to find our own audience and people who like us.

On CM Punk‘s absence / lack of public comments: “When Punk wants to talk, he will talk. That’s not for me. I enjoy seeing him being happy right now. So that’s where I’ll leave it. I know he is very happy. Things are going well for him. When he wants to talk, I’m sure he will do it.”

CM Punk's 'Pep Talk', Extreme Rules Pre-Show, WCW Note

-- As noted this past week here on the website, the WWE Extreme Rules pre-show panel will feature Josh Mathews, Booker T, Sheamus, and Alex Riley.

-- ShopWWE.com is now selling an Extreme Rules poster featuring WWE world heavyweight champion Daniel Bryan.

-- HallofVeryGood.com has an article up on CM Punk giving a pep talk to the Holy Trinity High School baseball team in Chicago.

-- The WWE Network will start airing WCW Clash of the Champions events starting on Monday (May 5) at 6AM, starting with the first event from 3/27/88 featuring Ric Flair vs. Sting.

Vince McMahon Addresses CM Punks WWE Status

During today's WWE investor's conference call, Vince McMahon was asked about the status of CM Punk.

McMahon stated that at this time, "CM Punk is on a sabbatical. Let's just leave it at that." He offered no other comments on Punk, and the call moved on from there.

How The Rumors Of CM Punks Release Started + M...

Partial Source: The Wrestling Observer-- The rumors regarding CM Punk being released from WWE late last week started backstage when Punk's real-life girlfriend AJ Lee was given the weekend off. There were a lot of people speculating backstage that the reason AJ left was because her boyfriend had been officially released. This is not the case as Punk is still under contract with WWE but is refusing to come back. It's described as a "touch and go" situation at this point. Punk is telling close...
